Kim developed her love for music and the arts from an early age-- largely fostered by her mother who sang in a local chorale and played the piano.
She began singing in junior high choir and was hooked for life. Music and singing has always been present as she also explored dancing, acting, and technical theatre. and while she got her Masters of Theatre Studies from Southern Oregon University in 2023.
In 2021, she picked up her first ukulele at a ukulele club and learned "Octopus's Garden" in an hour. She fell head over heels in love with the instrument, and went through 5 ukuleles in just 2 years as she grew out of each one's abilities. She started with a little yellow Kala Dolphin soprano and bought her first Kanile'a Platinum Tenor to celebrate getting her master's degree. Just this past year, she added another Platinum so she could have both high G and low G tuned instruments.
Her aim in performing music is simple: play uplifting and positive songs to help counteract the persistent negativity we have in the world around us at this time. Besides, how can you play a sad song on the ukulele?
Kim currently resides in Mt. Shasta and is employed at College of the Siskiyous in Weed, CA teaching theatre. She lives with her devoted husband and her little poodle, Rojo--who sometimes sings along.
